What you get

Strategy from someone who actually competed

Not a generic “how DECA works” explainer. The specific habits that separate a good performance from a placing one.

Advanced, not introductory

How role-plays are really scored, where points quietly disappear, and what judges reward that nobody tells you about.

Every cluster, every event type

Marketing, finance, hospitality, business management, entrepreneurship and Principles — plus written and team events, in DECA or FBLA.

You get Dylan, every session

Not a roster of tutors where the person on the homepage isn't the one you meet. Every session is with the coach whose results you're reading.

What you're actually paying for

I'm Dylan Hu. I competed in DECA for three years across Regionals, Provincials and the International Career Development Conference, finishing with more than fifteen awards. At ICDC 2026 I placed 4th in the world in Entrepreneurship Series — a Top 10 Finalist with two roleplay awards and a written award — and swept all five awards at Provincials that year. In FBLA I placed 2nd at the Canadian National Leadership Conference.

As an executive in my school's DECA chapter I taught marketing strategy and ran finance cluster training for a chapter of over eighty students, and coached three of them to ICDC qualification this year.

Sessions are one hour, remote, and $80 CAD each — billed directly, never through this website. The first one is free so you can see the coaching before you decide anything.

You're welcome to sit in, especially on the trial. If your student is under 18, the booking form asks for your name, your email, and your consent before it will accept anything, and you're copied on the confirmation.

You can cancel or reschedule up to 24 hours beforehand from a link in that email. No account to create, no password to remember.

Questions

Before you book

How do sessions work?

Sessions are one hour, one-on-one, and remote over video. You'll get a meeting link in your confirmation email. Bring whatever you're working on — a role-play prompt, a practice exam, or just the thing you keep getting stuck on. If you don't know where to start, that's fine; the first session figures that out.

What does it cost, and how do I pay?

One-on-one coaching is $80 CAD an hour. Small group classes are $40 CAD an hour per student. Payment is arranged directly with me after your session is confirmed — the site never takes card details and never processes a payment.

What's the free trial?

A full hour, free, no strings and no card required. One per student. It's a real session, not a sales call — most people use it to work on whatever event they're competing in next.

Do you coach written events?

Yes. Role-play, exam, and written events are all covered — one of my five ICDC awards in 2026 was a written event award. Written sessions look different from role-play ones: less live drilling, more work on structure, outlines, and what the rubric actually rewards before a judge reads a word.

Do you coach FBLA as well as DECA?

Yes. I've competed nationally in FBLA, placing 2nd in Canada and qualifying for the National Leadership Conference. The coaching transfers closely — case structure and presentation habits are the same skills wearing different labels — and you'll pick your program on the booking form.

I compete in Canada. Is this set up for me?

Yes — I compete in Canada myself, through Regionals and Provincials to ICDC. The booking form asks where you compete so the questions use the right names. If you're in the US, Districts and States work exactly the same way.

Can you coach a team event?

Yes. Team Decision Making is its own skill: dividing the case, handing off cleanly, and sounding like one person rather than two taking turns. Book a one-on-one session and bring your partner — it's the same hour, at the same price.

I've never competed. Is this for me?

Yes, and it's a good time to start. I work with students from grade 7 upward. First sessions with a new competitor usually cover how role-plays are actually scored and what judges are looking for — the things nobody explains and everyone is expected to know.

I'm already going to ICDC. Is this for me?

Yes. At that level the coaching changes shape: less on fundamentals, more on the specific gap between a strong performance and a placing one. I placed 4th in the world at ICDC 2026 as a Top 10 Finalist, with two roleplay awards and a written award, and the difference at the top is usually smaller and more fixable than it feels.

Can a parent sit in?

Absolutely, and you're especially welcome on the trial session. Plenty of parents want to see what they're paying for before they pay for it, and that's a completely reasonable thing to want.

What's your cancellation policy?

You can cancel or reschedule yourself up to 24 hours before your session, using the link in your confirmation email. No account or login needed. Inside that window, message me and we'll sort it out.

Which clusters and events do you coach?

All of them — marketing, finance, hospitality and tourism, business management and administration, entrepreneurship, and the Principles events for first-year competitors, plus team and written events. My own ICDC results are in Entrepreneurship Series. You'll pick your events on the booking form, and there's a "not sure yet" option if you're still deciding.
